Watercolour and pencil study of a Little Beauty Tulip. As a young child I loved this collection of Beauty Contestant doll necklaces. Faded, broken, now contextually problematic but still cherished, they surround the tulip flower. Although she doesn't have a sash any longer, I have placed what I think to be the Dutch doll at the top in recognition of the Dutch tulip painting tradition.
